Department of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery at the IUMS
consists of the following sections:
In-patient ward of otolaryngology-head and neck surgery
The ward has 40 beds for hospitalization and its' paramedical
staff are 19 people such as supervisors, nurses, secretaries
and etc. In the ward there are some specific beds for the
skull base surgery and thoracic surgery that are used with
cooperation of neurosurgeons and thoracic surgeons in this
hospital. Average number of patients which are hospitalized in
this ward per month are approximately 173.
Operating room
There are 4 operating rooms in this department which are ready
during a 24 hr period. There are adequate equipments for the
advanced operations such as skull base surgery, cochlear
implantation, endoscopic sinus surgery, head and neck plastic
surgery, maxiofacial surgery, laryngeal surgery and so on.
Average number of operations per month are approximately 160.
Out-patient clinics
A-General clinics: which deliver services to everyday clients
B-Specialized clinics: such as endoscopic sinus clinic,
vertigo clinic, tinnitus clinic, laryngology clinic, head &
neck surgery clinic, and plastic surgery clinic
C-Emergency clinic: in the emergency department of the IUMS
which is well equiped for the emergency victims
